THE WELCOME RECEPTION

Join us in kicking off the celebration of "70 Years of Asian Studies" at the 2011 Joint conference of the Association for Asian Studies and The International Convention of Asian Scholars at the 2011 Welcome Reception.

The Welcome Reception is a great opportunity to network with colleagues and fellow scholars while enjoying complimentary hors d'oeuvres, drinks and wonderful entertainment.

Guests of registered conference attendees are welcome to attend.

The 2011 Welcome Reception will take place on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30 on the great lawn at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by the Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble. Synthesizing traditional Japanese drumming techniques, world musical rhythms, and western jazz percussion styles, taiko master Kenny Endo is a leading force in contemporary taiko performance in the U.S. and Japan. The ensemble plays original compositions for taiko, koto, fue, and other Japanese traditional instruments highlighting the new dimensions Endo is bringing to an old Japanese art.
